This project explores the adaptive reuse of vacant urban land in Hong Kong by proposing a flexible, community-oriented public space that evolves alongside the city's shifting needs. The initiative encourages NGOs and local organisations to lease underutilised sites at a lower cost to provide essential social and educational services.
Set within an urban green pocket surrounded by industrial buildings, the site presents a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between work and living spaces. Rather than imposing a fixed architectural solution, the design embraces impermanence and growth—allowing the structure to adapt over time.
The architecture gradually blends into the sloped landscape, creating a gentle transition that invites the public into the heart of the green space. In doing so, the project reimagines how temporary architecture can activate underused land and foster community dialogue in dense urban environments.
